The Detroit Medical Center Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Program is based in the midtown area of Detroit. We proudly serve a diverse population with a variety of medical and social needs. One of the many benefits of our program is that it offers our residents the distinct opportunity to learn about the diverse cultural differences in people and their wide-ranging medical needs.

The program successfully integrates strong university-driven academic standards with exposure to a broad spectrum of cases. Our exceptional training involves clinical experience at our facilities in Detroit and the surrounding suburbs. Our mission is to produce compassionate and board eligible physicians who will become leaders in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

  4. Behavioral Medicine

  • Each training year has thirteen blocks (4 weeks each)
  • All residents are required to participate in one Quality Improvement Project and one Scholarly Activity in order to graduate from the program.
  • Attend weekly academics including lectures, journal club, radiology rounds, and cadaver lab.
  • Attend & participate in the DMC Graduate Medical Education and Department of Quality and Safety; Graduate Medical Education, QuESST Research Day Poster Competition.
  • Attend regional and national conferences such as American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis, Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons, and International Foot and Ankle Foundation.
  • The program is divided into 3 program years, with a specific focus dedicated to each Program year.
