Ethan Goldstein, MD

"There is no greater honor than being a part of the most pivotal moments in a patient's life. Whether it's bringing life into the world, helping ease the pain of loss, or just helping someone feel better, nothing is more satisfying than being a doctor." In addition to seeing patients in his private practice, Dr. Goldsten is currently Director of Gynecology at the DMC's Robotic and Minimally-Invasive Surgery Program at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. He credits watching his physician father interact with his own patients as the primary inspiration to become a doctor. He and his wife were expecting their first child when he was a third-year resident in the OB/GYN department, something that helped him decide what kind of medicine he wanted to practice. He was an early practitioner of robotic surgeries, a method that - along with laparoscopic surgeries - are still a cornerstone of his practice. He believes that with the changing nature of healthcare, it's now more important than ever to offer individualized treatment that's grounded in evidence-based medicine within the highest standards of care. He feels a physician's role is not only to diagnose and treat patients, but also to educate them and help them reach decisions about their health in a non-confrontational, supportive manner. A native of Southfield, MI, Dr. Goldstein moved to Southern California when he was very young. He and his family love being back in his home state and are learning about winter sports. He is an avid runner and also very fond of technology, opting to have the latest, greatest gadgets by his side for work and for play.
