Health Insurance Enrollment

New or Returning to Health Care Coverage?

We’re glad you’re here and being proactive about your family’s health. To help you get started, here’s some information on health insurance enrollment and what to expect once your new coverage begins:

  • The basics are covered. The basics include: ER services, hospitalization, outpatient services,  maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance abuse services, help with prescription drugs, rehabilitative services and devices, lab services, chronic disease management and pediatric services.
  • Free preventive services. Some of the free screenings include: blood pressure, cholesterol, depression and diabetes type 2.
  • Pre-existing conditions. Your insurance company can’t keep you from getting health care coverage or services because of pre-existing conditions.
  • Get healthy. Health care coverage includes obesity screening, obesity counseling, diet counseling, diabetes type 2 screenings and aspirin use for cardiovascular disease.
  • Helping new moms stay happy moms. Your new insurance network provides new mothers with support, counseling and equipment for breastfeeding.
  • Prescriptions are covered. Your network will explain which ones may require a co-pay.
  • Kick a habit. Quitting tobacco use, alcohol abuse screenings, and other counseling services are available for insured adults.
  • Get your shots. Here are some vaccines adults may receive based on their doctor’s recommendation: human papillomavirus (HPV), measles, mumps, meningococcal (meningitis), pneumonia, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) and the flu.

3 Reasons to Get Covered

1. Peace of Mind: Constantly worrying about your health and well-being can be stressful. Getting health insurance can put those fears to rest and provide you peace of mind.
2. A Healthier You: The preventive health benefits provided to you through your new coverage can help keep you healthy in the long run.
3. Financial Ease: When unexpected injuries or illness occur, health insurance can help pay for expensive emergency room visits and medical bills that can help keep you out of debt.
