Detroit Medical Center named Top 10 in the United States by renowned interventional and structural cardiology organization
Detroit – The Detroit Medical Center’s DMC Heart Hospital has been named among the Top 10 hospitals in the United States for both Interventional and Structural Cardiology by TCT, a leading international cardiology organization.
“This achievement reflects the collective dedication, excellence and innovation of our cardiovascular programs and underscores DMC’s growing national presence in interventional and structural heart research,” said DMC interventional cardiologist Dr. Chadi Alraies, director of the DMC Heart Hospital Catheterization Laboratory in Midtown Detroit. “Importantly, this recognition places Detroit Medical Center among elite institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and other top-ranked academic and cardiovascular centers across the United States. This acknowledgment highlights the exceptional scientific and clinical impact our team continues to make on a national scale as well as in our community.”
The Detroit Medical Center’s DMC Heart Hospital ranked ninth in the CRF® SET-10 U.S. overall rankings for TCT® 2025, just after Harvard Medical School and before Tampa Heart. The Detroit Medical Center also ranked 10th in the United States specifically for Structural Heart interventional cardiology. The rankings were announced during TCT 2025, held in San Francisco Oct. 25-28 in San Francisco.
TCT 2025, short for Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics, is one of the largest gatherings in the world of interventional and other cardiologists, surgeons, fellows and other specialists. The annual educational symposium is organized by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), with a goal to save and improve lives of patients with heart and vascular disease.
Interventional cardiologists use minimally invasive procedures, typically involving catheters, to address heart issues like blockages, valve issues, irregular heartbeats or other cardiac problems. Structural heart cardiology specifically addresses issues involving the heart structure, like holes between the heart’s chambers, valve malformations, aneurysms or congenital heart defects.
The United States overall rankings for TCT 2025 are:
- Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, Icahn School of Medicine
- The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
- Cleveland Clinic
- Mayo Clinic
- Minneapolis Heart Institute, Abbott Northwestern Hospital
- Endeavor Health (NorthShore University Health System)
- Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital — Dallas
- Mount Auburn / Brigham and Women's Hospital / Harvard Medical School
- Detroit Medical Center / Wayne State University
- Tampa Heart
Alraies also noted that DMC Heart Hospital Research and Structural Coordinator Heidi Carl worked tirelessly with the team to reach this important milestone.
“This recognition underscores the high-caliber research, innovation and patient-centered care happening today at the Detroit Medical Center,” DMC CEO Brittany Lavis said. “Together, our teams are elevating DMC’s reputation as a local, regional and national leader in cardiovascular innovation and clinical excellence.”
