Detroit Medical Center CEO Joseph Mullany
Joseph Mullany is CEO of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), a dynamic system of eight hospitals, consistently ranked nationally as leaders in dozens of specialties and patient safety. DMC is celebrating over 150 years of medical breakthroughs and national leaders in healthcare.
With $850 million in new facilities and new technology, expanded ERs and ICUs, and the new DMC Heart Hospital, a department of Harper Hospital, Mullany has been instrumental in positioning DMC for strategic growth, including expanding its ambulatory care network. His unique expertise in accountable care and specialized experience in reform and the federal Affordable Care Act is helping DMC lead the way to the future of health care.
A 25-year veteran of the industry, Mullany was most recently President of Vanguard Health’s New England region from 2005 to 2012, where he helped build a culture of excellence focusing on patients and family, safety, quality and value creation. He joined the DMC in 2012 and took the helm as CEO in 2013. He serves on several regional and national medical boards.
A graduate of Wake Forest University, Mullany holds Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Science degrees from the University of Florida.
