Craig Deleon, Corporate Director, Health, Fitness & Wellness
Craig DeLeon is the Corporate Director of Health, Fitness, and Wellness at the Detroit Medical Center, based out of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM). Craig has over fifteen years of experience in the health and wellness field while spending the last ten years at DMC. His primary role includes directing the outpatient cardiac rehab, physical therapy and sports medicine program at RIM to develop, implement, and evaluate programs to benefit the health and well-being for employees, patients, and the surrounding communities that the DMC serves. Craig takes particular interest in placing the right mix of staff and programming in place to positively impact large groups of people. Craig has also worked with Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler on corporate fitness programming. An avid golfer and athlete, Craig attended Northern Michigan University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Fitness Management while lettering three times on the football field for the Wildcats.
Mary Thompson, Fitness/Sports Enhancement Representative
Mary serves as a lead administrative resource for the Fitness & Cardiac departments, and assists with all business details ranging from marketing to sales. Having over 35 years of administrative and customer service experience, she provides an exceptional experience for our patients and members of the community. She attended Henry Ford Community College where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Science and Business with a special concentration in Sports Management and Fitness Leadership. Mary is a member of multiple committees within RIM and is also recognized as a certified BLS instructor. She enjoys fitness, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Alyssa Mitzel- Rehab Trainer
Alyssa attended Wayne State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise and Sport Science. Before officially joining the Fitness team she gained first hand experience interning within the Rehab Trainer position. Alyssa is recognized as the Group Exercise Coordinator and is certified through ISSA as a Fitness Trainer & Specialist in Exercise Therapy. She enjoys teaching group fitness classes, and looks forward to working with others to help achieve their health and fitness goals.
Adil Hassan- Rehab Trainer
Adil studied at Wayne State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with a concentration in Exercise and Sports Science. Prior to joining the fitness team, he volunteered in RIM’s Center for Spinal Cord Injury and then proceeded to complete an internship as a Rehab Trainer within Brasza’s outpatient gym. Adil leads the Arabic Joint Camp at the DMC Fitness/Wellness Center within Dearborn community. He is currently working on obtaining his personal training certification through ACSM and has a strong passion for fitness & bodybuilding.
Richard Walker- Rehab Trainer
Richard attended Central Michigan University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise science with a concentration in Health & Fitness. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Sports Administration from Wayne State University. Before joining the fitness staff, Richard completed Internships with the Strength & Conditioning programs for Eastern Michigan University and The University of Michigan. He is recognized as a certified strength & conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and is FMS certified. Richard enjoys working to improving sport performance and the quality of movement in others.
Tiffany Dessert, Rehab Trainer
Tiffany attended Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Before officially joining the fitness team she had the opportunity to learn first hand, by interning in the Rehab Trainer Position. Currently, Tiffany works dual roles as a rehab trainer within the inpatient and outpatient portions of RIM. She enjoys powerlifting and is preparing to obtain the CSCS certification through the NSCA.
Erica obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Wellness, Health Promotion, and Injury Prevention with a focus in Exercise Science from Oakland University. She went on to get her Masters in Public Health from the University of Southern Mississippi on a Graduate Assistant scholarship in Recreational Sports. Erica manages the DMC Wellness Center at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center and the Group Exercise division for the City of Dearborn. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and Primary Group Exercise Instructor through the American Fitness and Athletics Association (AFAA). Erica enjoys teaching cycle, body sculpt, and water exercise in addition to working with the members of the Ford Community Center.
Andrea attended Wayne State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She serves a leading role on the fitness team working at DMC’s Wellness Center located within the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. Andrea is currently recognized as a personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), as well as a group fitness instructor by the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Body Sculpt and Cardio Interval are some of the most notable classes that she instructs. Andrea enjoys resistance training and competes in fitness competitions through the National Physique Committee.
