We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. When you visit a Detroit Medical Center (DMC) hospital, we want everyone’s experience to be pleasant and safe. This page contains important information about parking and shuttle services at DMC facilities for visitors, staff and students. and/or ticketing.

About DMC Badging Services

Everyone entering the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) system including employees contracted staff, physicians, students or residents on clinical rotation and vendors/contractors should visit one of the DMC’s Badging Offices to receive the proper Identification Badge credentials. All DMC badges must include a photograph (taken during your visit; personal photos are not accepted). Individuals in need of a parking privileges must provide all of their vehicle information (i.e. make, model, year, color and license plate no.). The appropriate vehicle identifier will be issued and must be displayed at all times when parked at the DMC. Please refer 1EC021 Identification Badge Policy for additional regarding badging processes.

Shuttle Service

The Parking and External Transportation Department (PETD) is responsible for several services system-wide at the DMC. The PETD provides ID Badges in conjunction with managing parking for all visitors, vendors, physicians and employees, including contracted services for shuttling, self-park and valet parking. PETD also assigns parking for DMC employees, students and frequent vendors.

Visitor Parking

The DMC Central Campus offers visitors convenient covered self-park and valet park services. Self-parking is free for patients and patient visitors with validation (available inside the hospital). Valet rates depend on the site you are visiting.

Parking Locations

DMC Central Campus parking consists of covered parking decks and open lots. The campus also includes designated vendor and police/authority parking.

Central Campus Shuttle Services

The DMC provides fast and convenient shuttle service 5:00am – 11:00pm Monday - Friday for patients, visitors and employees. DMC Shuttle buses are clean, comfortable and heated/air-conditioned. There are four types of vehicles providing shuttle service to the Central Campus:

  • Standard 24 passenger bus
  • American Disability Act (ADA) wheelchair equipped bus
  • 10-passenger van
  • Sport Utility vehicle (SUV)

Shuttles travel along defined routes, with dedicated stops designed to provide efficient and time-saving travel across the DMC campus.

After Hours Shuttle Service is available by calling 313-745-8700. Orchestra Place (OP) employees will continue to use this number for transportation from OP to Central Campus hospitals. If you have safety concerns, please contact DMC Police Authority at 313-745-3325, to request an escort.

Detroit Receiving Hospital/Children's Hospital Express Services

Two shuttles service DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital/University Health Center and DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan employees parking at the Kresge Deck/Lot.(View Map)

  • Morning shuttles will run from 5:30 a.m. –  9:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon shuttles will run from 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Shuttles will run Monday through Friday.
  • Shuttles will run approximately every 10 minutes between the Kresge Deck, Detroit Receiving and Children’s Hospital.

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan/Harper University Hospital Express Services

Shuttle services DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and DMC Harper University Hospital/Hutzel Women’s Hospital employees parking at the Kresge Deck/Lot. The shuttle operates approximately every 15 minutes, picking up from the Hutzel Building.( View Map)

  • The van operates from 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. 
  • The shuttle bus runs from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon shuttles will run from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Shuttles will run Monday through Friday.
  • Shuttles will run approximately every 15 minutes between the Kresge Deck, DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan/Harper University.
  • Pickup for this route is in front of the Old Hutzel Building

Bethel Student Shuttle Services

Bethel AME Church 5050 Richard Allen Blvd.

  • Morning shuttle runs from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon shuttle runs from 2 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (*see below for off hours service)

Sinai Grace Hospital Employee Shuttle Services

Blumberg Parking Deck & Lot – 15100 W McNichols Aves

Shuttles transport employees to and from the Bloomberg Parking areas.

Hours of Operation: 5:00 a.m. – 12:00am. Monday through Friday

Peak service: 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
