An active volunteer program is available at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. Giving generously of their time, volunteers provide the extra care and support to our patients, families, and staff. Volunteers work in a variety of departments and programs at our hospital. These areas include but are not limited to:
- Clerical Work
- Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit Waiting Room
- Music/Arts Therapy
- Patient Care Areas
- Patient Companions
- Spiritual Care
- Surgical Waiting
- Therapy Dogs
Adult volunteers are selected based on hospital need and volunteer availability. Volunteers must apply online, commit to six months of service for at least four hours per week and attend a group orientation based on the above criteria. Volunteers are individually interviewed to find a good match for their skills/ interests.
Student volunteers must be at least 16 years old, fill out a Student Volunteer Parental Consent Form and attend a group orientation. Student volunteers should have a desire to pursue a career in the medical field and commit to four hours of volunteer time per week for at least six months.
Volunteer Services has many service projects available for outside volunteers: knitted baby hats, nursery blankets, pediatric blankets and puppets. Instructions for each are available through Volunteer Services (248) 937-3314.
