The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is now the official healthcare provider for the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL). As part of the agreement that went into effect last month, DMC is responsible for providing trainers for all 75 commercial games, as well as the 27 non-commercial games. Detroit Medical Center physicians will also conduct routine physicals for all of the USPBL players.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the USPBL and offer our family of medical professionals and therapists,” said Patty Jobbitt, Chief Executive Officer of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. “The DMC is dedicated to the health and safety of these athletes and we are honored to align with this leading organization to help promote sports safety awareness and quality health care services.”

“Our league is proud to be partnering with the DMC,” said Dana Schmitt, Chief Operating Officer of USPBL. "I’m confident that all of our players will be receiving the utmost care from the specialists at DMC.”

As the official healthcare services provider of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and the Detroit Free Press Marathon, DMC’s sports medicine physicians are dedicated to providing patients with the same  care they provide to professional athletes. DMC sports medicine physicians believe in a team approach to care, meaning an individualized treatment plan will be designed with input from a team of orthopedic surgeons, non-surgical sports medicine specialists, physical therapists and certified athletic trainers.

This partnership between the USPBL and Detroit Medical Center has been signed through 2021. Each USPBL team plays a 50-game regular season from May through September, with an all-star game and championship game at the conclusion of the regular season. The games are played at Jimmy John's Field in historic downtown Utica and are broadcasted live via the League’s YouTube Channel, with select games airing on ESPN3.
