DMC Names New CEO at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital

Detroit — Detroit Medical Center has appointed David S. McEwen as chief executive officer for Huron Valley Sinai Hospital. The appointment is effective March 30.

David McEwanMcEwan has more than 25 years of experience as a healthcare executive. He comes to the DMC from Mercy Health Saint Mary’s in Grand Rapids, where he served as chief operating officer. In that role he was responsible for all clinical, ancillary and support services including Nursing, Emergency, Lab, Imaging, Pharmacy, Environmental Services, Security and Plant Operations. Prior to joining Mercy Health Saint Mary’s he was the vice president of operations for McLaren Hospital in Port Huron. He also served as CEO of Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette.

“David brings an impressive and diverse set of skills to our health system,” according to DMC Chief Executive Officer, Audrey Gregory, Ph.D., R.N. “He has extensive experience in both rural and urban hospitals. He is adept at engaging physicians, managers and stakeholders to inspire innovative approaches in enhancing health care for patients.”

McEwen earned his bachelor’s in healthcare management from Central Michigan University, and a master’s of healthcare administration from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Ca.
