Sinai Grace Guild Community Development Corporation

The Sinai-Grace Guild Community Development Corporation (SGGCDC) is a nonprofit dedicated to the revitalization and sustainability of NW Detroit. In existence for over 40 years, SGGCDC fulfills its commitment in several ways:

  • Expanding Commercial and Economic Development
  • Promoting Economic Security and Wealth Building
  • Creating Residential Stabilization and Growth
  • Improving Open Space and Parks
  • Increasing Mobility and Sustainability
  • Community-Building and Enhancing Quality of Life
  • Developing Leadership and Neighborhood Capacity

SGGCDC shares a 40-year relationship with DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital – initially as its Guild (called Grace Guild). In the beginning, Sinai-Grace Hospital and the Guild worked to improve access to healthcare in NW Detroit. In 2015, hospital leadership, along with community stakeholders worked together to re-direct the Guild’s focus to business and community revitalization. The Guild Board of Directors responded by renaming the organization to SGGCDC, and focusing its efforts on community development. In 2016, the Guild spun off to become a community development corporation.

Currently, Sinai-Grace Hospital and SGGCDC are collaborating with other NW Detroit businesses in launching a new housing incentive program - Live Local, a program designed to support new homeownership, encourage residential growth, and spur new local investment in NW Detroit.

SGGCDC’s current leader, Executive Director Lisa Campbell continues the organization’s vision of working with the residents of NW Detroit in creating equitable revitalization strategies and resources. For more information on SGGCDC, visit Sinai-Grace Guild website.
