Senior Vice-President, Chief Nursing Officer
Shawn Levitt, BSN, MHSA, RN, FACHE, CPHQ, was named the system's new Senior Vice-President, Chief Nursing Officer, in January 2012, a position that will allow her to continue the leadership and service she has brought to DMC over many years. With nearly 25 years in the healthcare industry, Levitt will help drive the next level of nursing service and development at DMC. Prior to this position, Levitt was Chief Operating Officer at DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan for four years. Previously, she was DMC's corporate director of medical and academic affairs and was instrumental in the successful system-wide launch of the DMC's Electronic Medical Record initiative. She was also responsible for oversight of the state-funded Children's Choice of Michigan program for special needs children. Levitt earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Wayne State University, and a master's degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Michigan Healthcare Executive Group and Associates, Inforum, and is certified in health care quality and managed care nursing.
