Wound Care

Detroit Medical Center Wound Care is dedicated to and focused on the treatment of patients with chronic wounds resulting from a variety of causes, including diabetes and vascular disease. The center offers a unique, integrated approach with medical, surgical and vascular options, depending on each unique case.

While most wounds heal quickly, there are specific types of wounds that cause severe problems if left untreated. Current studies show that nearly five million Americans suffer with chronic wounds that don't heal or fail to improve within four weeks. Three main factors for non-healing wounds include: diabetes, poor circulation and limited mobility.

DMC Wound Care treats all non-healing wounds, including:

  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Surgical Wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Other chronic, non-healing ulcers
  • Collagen vascular disease
  • Radiation tissue damage
  •
    • Traumatic wounds
    • Necrotizing soft tissue infection
    • Venous stasis ulcers
    • Osteomyelitis
    • Ischemic Wounds

Four DMC Hospitals – DMC Detroit Receiving, DMC Harper University Hospital, DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital – were ranked among the TOP HOSPITALS in Southeast Michigan by U.S. News & World Report.
