For Windows 95 Users only:
If you are running Windows 98, or already have updated Dial-up Networking before, proceed to the next step.
Before Cisco VPN Client can be installed on Windows 95 PC, you may need to update Dial-up Networking:
Download Dial-up Networking 1.3 Update and save it on temporary location on your hard drive. Then execute it to install:
Note: After the installation is completed, you can delete the msdun13 or msdun13.exe icon from your desktop by selecting the icon, and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
You will need to restart your computer before proceeding to the next step.
Install Cisco VPN Client setup file
Download the correct Cisco VPN Client Setup Executable File depending on your Operating System and save it to your desktop. Then execute it to install:
Note: After the installation is completed, you can delete the vpn-client or vpn-client.exe icon from your desktop by selecting the icon, and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
Double click on `vpnclient-win9x-XP.exe' icon to begin installation.
VPN Client setup will start:
Read the License Agreement.
Wait for files to load. Do not cancel.
When installation is complete the following screen will display
After the installation has completed, you may either choose to continue running your PC, or you may choose to reboot at this time. Computer must be restarted before VPN client can be used.
If you wish to complete the installation then restart your PC by clicking Finish.
For Remote Desktop Outlook Client Users only (all others skip to next section):
After you restart PC, if you must set the MTU to it's proper settings otherwise some applications will not work, such as OUTLOOK
To set the MTU:
You need to change your MTU to 1400
Highlight `Local Area Connection'
Set this to 1400
Highlight `Dial-Up Networking'
After making changes you must reboot
Configuring Cisco VPN Client
After PC has rebooted and you have signed back on to computer continue the installation by:
The following screen will appear, click "New..." button
The `New Connection entry Wizard' will appear.
Enter a name for this new profile. It can be any text you choose. Then click next.
Type vpn.dmc.org in the Host name textbox. Then click next.
You must now enter a Group Name and Password. They need to be obtained from the Help Desk at 313-966-2400 or the Security Group. (NOTE: This is the only time that you will need to enter in this information.) Then click next.
Connecting to VPN
To activate the VPN Client, first connected to your ISP.
Enter your DMC Network NT user name and password and click ok If you do not know your username and password, please call the Help Desk at (313) 966-2400 for assistance.
You will next see the following VPN screen
When have connected and authenticated you will see a golden Master lock at the bottom of the screen.
Once connected, you will get a standard network login prompt. Enter the necessary information and click OK.
