Minority/Women-Owned Business Development Process

Listed below is the general procurement process followed within the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and its subsidiaries. While this process does not guarantee or ensure that your minority/woman-owned business will enjoy specific purchases from the DMC, this process will place minority/woman-owned businesses and their potential commodities and/or services in the hands of the appropriate purchasing personnel within the DMC.

• The minority/woman-owned business should first contact the DMC Supplier Diversity Manager to determine, in general, that their service or product is one that potentially could be utilized by the DMC.
• If the product or service offered by the minority/woman owned business has potential utilization within the DMC, the Supplier Diversity Manager, may, if appropriate, either conduct a personal interview in the offices of DMC Procurement or a personal interview and site visit at the place of business.
• At that time, specific information regarding the ownership of the company will be reviewed, i.e. certification papers or other documents verifying minority or woman ownership.
• The information on the business owner will be added to the DMC files for any future opportunities.
• The detailed process and procedure required to respond to Requests for Proposal (RFP) will be carefully outlined in the actual RFP document.
• All bids and RFPs are now posted on the Detroit Medical Center website: www.dmc.org/vendor/bids/.
