January 17, 2013- DMC Children’s Hospital Of Michigan M.L. King Celebration Keyote Brings Unique Civil Rights Connection
DETROIT, MI, JANUARY 17, 2013 – DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan Diversity & Inclusion Committee will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, featuring keynote Juanita Moore, president and CEO, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History — the world's largest institution dedicated to the African American experience. Looking Back to Move Forward is the theme for this years’ celebration to be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the hospital, located at 3901 Beaubien in Detroit.
Prior to her current role, Moore served as founding executive director of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, where she oversaw the construction of the museum’s opening at the historic Lorraine Motel — site of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Additional highlights for the DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan M.L.K. celebration will include musical performances from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Sphinx artists, and dance artistry from the Marygrove Dancers of Marygrove College.
