An active volunteer program is available at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital for individuals age 16 and older.  Students must have a desire to purse a career in the medical field. Giving generously of their time, volunteers provide extra care and support that make a very positive difference to patients, family members and hospital staff.

Volunteers are placed in almost all departments, except obstetrics and pediatrics.  They assist staff in patient care as greeters, helping with meals, and working in the surgical waiting room, gift shop etc. Their assistance helps make the hospital stay more pleasant.

Prospective volunteers are interviewed personally and then oriented to hospital procedures and volunteer functions.

The DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital Health Care Advocates are the hospital's ambassador, serving both DMC Huron Valley-Sinai and the community through service and fundraising. Founded in 1986, this group is governed by a board of directors.  Annual dues of $10 are used to fund service projects benefiting the hospital.  All adult volunteers are required to join.
