Health Tip

Tips for Good Nutrition

  • Use your microwave. Microwaves have revolutionized vegetable cooking -- you can do them just right. You can also buy commercial low-fat microwave meals and add a salad for a complete dinner. On the weekends, cook meals in batches and freeze them to microwave later.

  • Use common sense when eating out. Order salad dressing on the side so you'll know how much you're putting on. Ask for things grilled or cooked without butter. As for "mystery" entrees, if you eat half, it will be half of whatever calories are there.

  • If you eat at a fast-food restaurant, choose the salads and grilled chicken.
