At the Detroit Medical Center, we’re dedicated to providing the best clinical
care to our aging adult patients. Seniors will find multiple locations for care
and assessment across the DMC.
NICHE Certified Care
Started in 1992, NICHE, which stands for
“Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders,” has evolved into a national
geriatric nursing program. The goal is to achieve systematic nursing change that
will benefit hospitalized older patients, through sensitive and exemplary care.

Special Geriatric Centers
At the DMC, there are three special
centers dedicated to geriatric care. These centers offer outpatient services,
geriatric assessments, senior resource centers, Alzheimer’s resources, support
groups and more.

Medicare Plan B Assessments
New Medicare Plan B applicants should
complete a geriatric assessment. For help with scheduling a Geriatric Assessment
