Harper University Hospital was one of the first approved ADA internships. The first class of Dietetic Interns graduated in 1931. The Harper University Hospital Dietetic Internship is currently granted Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association.

The internship program starts in January and is approximately 45 weeks in length. Applications are due in September for the November appointment. Six students, married or single, male or female are accepted in each class. We select the best potential students from the applications received.
Dietetic interns are scheduled for a forty to fifty hour work week, which includes four to eight hours of class.
Interns work some holidays and weekends. They do get eight hours off for holidays. The vacation week is preplanned for June or July, in the yearly rotation.
