About DMC Parking and Badge Service
Parking is handled through the DMC Badge office, which issues all identification badges and parking placards. The DMC Badge office is located in the Central Detroit Campus, in the Kresge Campus/Hutzel Building, ground floor, suite EG15. Operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
DMC also provides shuttle services for the Central Campus, with defined routes and scheduled arrival/departure times.
DMC Security Police officers work closely with PETD to help keep DMC campuses among the safest places to work and visit in the metropolitan area. These officers not only patrol the campus, but assist patients, visitors and employees with excellent customer service. In the event of any emergency, DMC Security police can be reached by dialing 111 from any DMC phone.
DMC Badge Service
Everyone entering the DMC system, including new employees, physicians, students or residents on clinical rotation, and vendors, must visit the DMC Badge Service in the DMC Midtown Kresge Campus/Hutzel Building, ground floor, suite EG15, to receive the proper credentials. Your DMC badge will include your photograph (DMC will take your photo during your visit to badge services; you do not need to supply a photo.) Individuals in need of a parking assignment must provide all personal vehicle information (i.e. make, model, year, etc.)
- Employees/Physicians do not need to schedule a time to obtain a photo identification badge. Employees should bring their Human Resources paperwork at the time of their badge request.
- Students will need their instructors to schedule an appointment for their badges. Nursing Instructors must complete the DMC Nursing Clinical Affiliation Roster and return it to DMC Parking and External Transportation prior to scheduling student badge appointments.
- Vendors will need to contact DMC Facilities and receive vendor training prior to receiving their DMC badge.
- There is a $10 cost for the following types of ID badges: Vendors/Contractors/Consultants, Karmanos, Students, DMC employee Lost/Stolen Badge.
- All requests for new badges and/or data changes require appropriate documentation (i.e. HR, Vendor, Student Form/Roster.)
- Groups of five or more must schedule an appointment prior to their visit.
- Once your badge is printed there is a $10 cost for a reprint.
- Replacement badges require the most recent badge issued be returned or there is a $10 fee (badges for orchestra Place staff are $20.)
- Parking assignments are based upon DMC parking policy (DMC Tier 1 Policy #1CG040.)
- There is a $25 replacement cost for all parking access cards issued for any leased parking location.
Badging Forms: Click the appropriate form below to open the badge form you need. All forms must be fully completed, or they will not be accepted.
Employee Parking
Upon receiving a DMC badge, every employee is assigned a paring location. This parking assignment must be used at all times. A DMC badge swipe is frequently required for entry to DMC Employee parking areas. Your badge is coded to your assigned parking area, and will not provide you access to any other parking area.
In order to provide as much accommodation as possible for our patients and their visitors, employees are not allowed to pay for parking in areas reserved for patient/visitor parking. Employees found violating this policy are subject to discipline pursuant to DMC HR Tier 1 Policy. Parking assignments are predetermined; all exceptions must be approved by the Director of Parking and External Transportation and a DMC Executive Manager. Consideration is given to individuals with documented conditions.
Student Parking
Student parking and badge processing must be coordinated by the students’ respective instructors. The Parking and Badge policy for all college instructors/students is as follows:
- Instructors are required to completely fill out and return the DMC Nursing Clinical Affiliation Roster.
- The Roster must be completed entirely and typed – incomplete roster or handwritten rosters will not be accepted.
- Rosters must be either faxed (fax: 313-745-5200) or hand-delivered to parking and Transportation before the arrival of the students.
- Instructors must call to ensure that Parking and transportation has received the faxed roster and then schedule the appointment.
- Students must be prompt for their appointment. A 15-minute grace period is allowed, after which they will be required to re-schedule.
- Students must have an appointment. Unscheduled student requests will not be accommodated.
- Parking assignments for all students rotating on days will be at the Bethel AME Church, located at 5050 Richard Allen Blvd. (St. Antoine), Detroit. This lot is monitored by DMC security.
- Yellow hanging tags will be provided for Bethel AME Church parking and must be returned along with student’s badge at then end of the rotation to receive the five dollar voucher.
- Shuttle service between student parking at Bethel AME Church and the Central Campus facilities is available.
- Parking assignments for all students doing rotations in the afternoons will be in decks closer to their working hospital site. For example, students with afternoon rotations at DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan will have access to both the Beaubien and Mack parking decks.
- Afternoon rotation parking access begins at 2:30 p.m.
