Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, is chronic acid reflux disease (heartburn.) In addition to other modern surgical treatments for GERD at DMC, Surgeons at DMC Harper University Hospital are now offering the EsophyXTIF™ surgical procedure to treat patients with chronic acid reflux disease (GERD). This innovative procedure enables Harper surgeons to reconstruct the anti-reflux valve at the gastroesophageal junction without incisions. This “no-incision” procedure stops acid from coming up and causing pain with lower surgical risks and no scars. Most patients can get back to work and normal activities in a couple days.
