Day 8: Increase Activity 30 Minutes Per Day

 

Get up and get active!
The American Heart Association recommends exercising at least 30 minutes a day, five times a week for heart health. Brisk activity gets your heart pumping faster, makes your heart healthier and is the best way to burn calories. But even walking is beneficial.

Here are some tips to get you started:
  • Choose activities you enjoy and can do with friends or family.
  • Park farther away from building entrances.
  • Use stairs instead of the elevator.
  • When you can, walk or bike instead of driving.
  • Rake leaves, garden, or do household repairs.
