Crow's Feet – it's for the birds!
Don’t hold back your laughter for fear of developing crow’s feet around your eyes from years of laughing, squinting and frowning. These unfortunate wrinkles are all but unavoidable signs of aging.
While it is inevitable a woman will develop these lines at some point in her life, lifestyle choices such as cigarette smoking and extensive sun exposure can make a woman more at risk.
Solutions for Crow’s Feet
"Drinking plenty of water and using a good moisturizer daily can combat the onset," said Mary Martin, RN, of the Sinai-Grace Cosmetic Center in Berkley.
There are also two nonsurgical treatments that provide a more youthful appearance: Botox and microdermabrasion. Both temporarily relax and minimize frown lines, forehead creases and crow’s feet. Botox involves a few small injections that block nerve impulses to the muscles, resulting in less movement and noticeable improvement within days, typically lasting three to four months.
Microdermabrasion is a skin refreshing technique effective in reducing these lines, stimulating the production of skin cells and collagen, buffing away the surface layer of skin with tiny crystals and polishing your skin. This technique is recommended monthly.
