Receiving Hospital’s Mark Upfal, M.D., Elected to Serve on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association: Association Provides Leadership to the State of Michigan - 4/29/2008
DETROIT –– Mark Upfal, M.D. Detroit Receiving Hospital’s medical director of Occupational Health Services and corporate medical director for the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) has been elected to serve on the Michigan Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association (MOEMA) Board of Directors for the 2007-2008 term.

Sarah Maynie Joins Detroit Receiving Hospital as Physician Relations Recruitment Director - 4/29/2008
DETROIT –– Sarah Maynie joins Detroit Receiving Hospital (DRH) as a physician relations recruitment director. Maynie will actively recruit new physicians for Receiving, while assisting new doctors in their transition to the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and Receiving Hospital.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan awarded prestigious Magnet status, April 15: Children’s Hospital is the only pediatric hospital in the state to receive designation - 4/16/2008
DETROIT -- The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has awarded DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan Magnet designation for excellence in nursing. Recognized as one of the highest distinctions a hospital can receive, only 288 or less than five percent of all U.S. hospital have achieved this status. The designation is valid for four years.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan establishes national collaborative for evidence-based practices in patient and family centered care: National health care leaders convene at Children’s Hospital to launch, April 14-15 - 4/4/2008
DETROIT -- Patient and family-centered care models are fast gaining recognition for their role in improving patient safety and quality of care. While most children’s hospitals make efforts toward patient and family-centered care, practices widely vary. DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan is leading a national effort to advance the implementation of evidence-based patient and family centered care in pediatric hospitals. Nationally-recognized researchers, patient and family advocates, educators and health care administrators will gather for a National Summit at Children’s Hospital on April 14 and 15 to launch the collaborative.

DMC Physician Receives National Recognition in Emergency Medicine: Dr. Brooks F. Bock, President of DMC Harper and Hutzel Hospitals recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians as a “Hero of Emergency Medicine” - 3/18/2008
DETROIT – The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) announced Friday, March 14, 2008 it has recognized Brooks F. Bock, MD, FACEP, president of Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, as a “Hero of Emergency Medicine.” The campaign which is part of ACEP’s 40th anniversary, recognizes emergency physicians who have made significant contributions to emergency medicine, their communities and their patients.
